This Weekend on Mixed Emotions Radio Show – January 11, 2015
Yezur, so this week I’ll be showcasing some more cool new records from the underground house scene, as well as the mainstream club circuits. Still doing our best to keep a good balance between the two, as always, but the line has grown so thin these days it’s really hard to tell them apart. Anayways, I’ll be shining the spotlight on a very cool new release, from Spanish label, Sincopat – it’s a 13 track compilation tiled “Vomvo 01” and its mixed by Darlyn Vlys. Now, about the Darlyn Vlys :
A charming french look and charismatic sound, inspired by various genres of music and combined with a great love for details. This is what makes Darlyn Vlys unique. While studying filmarts in Montpellier he got more and more fascinated by artists from the electronic music scene. He went to Valencia and created his own sound, which is although tech-house, but rather special due to jazz and latin influences. Darlyn is known as a great producer. No wonder that he was signed by well known labels such as GET PHYSICAL, UPON YOU, AVOTRE, SUARA or KLING KLONG. His latest releases are available on AVOTRE, UPON YOU, GET PHYSICAL,TERMINAL M, REMOTE AREA and SINCOPAT. In addition to his career being a DJ, Darlyn is also working on several projects with fellow colleagues and travels around a lot. A Frenchman on a musical journey around the globe.
As for the compilation – Sincopat explains it better, on their soundcloud :
The concept Vomvo was originally created by Sincopat to perform underground electronic music events. The name in Spanish means kick (bombo), but we change the B for the V. It has undergone thru some of the most important European clubs, like Sankeys (Ibiza), Barraca Valencia, The Wood (Brussels) or Ritter Butzke in Berlin, with artists as And.Id, Coyu, Ramiro Lopez, Darlyn Vlys, and so on.
But Vomvo is as well a concept created by Sincopat to tell a story once per year and working together with selected artists. We have asked them to create a special track for the story. 12 tracks from a healthy roster, representing new talents like Unders or Pete Oak and giving strength with consolidated artists as AFFKT or Darlyn Vlys. For the first edition, the mix is made by fundamental label pillar/base Darlyn Vlys. The French but based in Valencia artist is now in his best shape right now, with releases on Upon You, Get Physical or Kling Klong, among others. In the compilation we can listen to his collaboration with the French duo Melokolektiv, choosing Thomas Gandey for the vocals of this track, called All You.
Deep, electronic and sensual, the compilation takes you in a trip around different moods, an also countries. The Mexican trio Chaty, Tamez & Gabriel I, brings to Sincopat an esoteric track after their pass for Dave Seaman’s Selador. Italian bad boy Greeko offers his rebel touch with Freak this. Tunisian man of the moment HearThuG tweets his LFOs presenting the best organic dark sounds. Kid Culture from the Netherlands is back to Sincopat with Drunken Master, showing some Detroit classic techno inspiration. Also from Amsterdam, the promising Mike Ravelli hits with a serious tech-house slice. Dutch factory sends as well a new rising talent called Unders, with a superb Home of Love. From the cold Scandinavia, Pete Oak appears also in Vomvo after his double tracker on the BeenTouched series. Third Son, who already signed to Noir, Underground Audio, and Material, delivers an Acid weapon called Entrance Acid. Dhanya Langer also known as D.Y.A. signs his first track on Sincopat with Horace, a percussive and melodic master piece.
Of course Sincopat doesn’t forget Spain; label boss AFFKT meets legendary Jimmy Van M with an electrifying track to rock the dance-floor. By his side, Upercent presents his deepest face with Amerat, another hit for this Valencian boy, who is one of the names to follow in 2015.
Now, with regards to the other segments on the show – namely: New & Exclusive – I’ve got a sweet poolside scorcher from Black Vanilla. Bring Back Disco – i’ve got The Presets, Sharam Jey & the amazing Kimbra.
